A Gentle Approach to Sinus Surgery: Balloon Sinuplasty

Living with chronic sinus problems can be frustrating. Persistent nasal blockage, facial pressure, headaches, postnasal drip, and recurrent infections can affect sleep, work, and quality of life.

Fortunately, not all sinus surgery involves extensive tissue removal. Balloon sinuplasty is a minimally invasive technique designed to open blocked sinus drainage pathways using a small balloon catheter. Similar to the technology used in heart angioplasty, the balloon is gently inflated within the natural sinus opening to widen the passage and improve drainage.

Because the normal sinus lining and surrounding tissues are largely preserved, patients may experience less bleeding, reduced discomfort, and a quicker recovery compared with traditional sinus surgery in selected cases.

Balloon sinuplasty is not suitable for every patient. A thorough assessment, including symptom evaluation, nasal examination, and often a CT scan, is important to determine the most appropriate treatment.

Our goal is simple: to help you breathe better, reduce recurrent sinus symptoms, and return to your daily activities as comfortably and safely as possible.

If you have been struggling with ongoing sinus issues despite medical treatment, speak to your ENT specialist to find out whether balloon sinuplasty may be an option for you.
